The world’s best workout accessory can cool you down, perk you up, and power you through everything from your morning jog to serious sweat sessions. Oh, and it’s completely free!
We’re talking, of course, about water. But while we all know the benefits of drinking plenty of H2O, we can sometimes struggle to get enough in our everyday lives. We here at WaterSide know how important (and rewarding!) getting plenty of water can be, so we’ve compiled five easy ways to ensure that you’re well hydrated, during your gym sessions and beyond. Just take a look below to learn more.
Set reminders, or log your H2O
You probably already use your phone to list to-dos around the house, or keep track of your WOD, so why not add water intake to the list? You can keep running notes on your phone or even find an app that lets you keep track of your H2O, as well as nutrients you eat throughout the day.
You might be thinking, why do I need to remind myself? I’ll know when it’s time to drink some water when I’m thirsty. However, we know that by the time you start to feel thirsty, you’re actually already dehydrated (which can make you feel tired and less than your best, whether you’re working out or not). So by reminding yourself to drink water regularly, you will be able to stay replenished without ever getting to that parched point.
Get into a routine
As is the case with workouts, consistency is key! Get into a routine with your water intake by replenishing at easy-to-remember times of day—with each of your meals, when you walk the dog, as you read, stretch or watch the news, etc.—so that getting plenty of H2O becomes second nature.
Pick out a sturdy bottle you love
A reusable water bottle is good for the environment and for you, since you can refill it throughout the day (and your keep your water cool with insulation!). Opt for a sturdy bottle—or two—with a design you love so that you’re sure to never forget it at home.
Mix things up
Once you’ve swung into your routine, you may be wondering about ways to add some variety to your H2O. Fortunately, that’s an easy step! With dinner or get-togethers with friends, for example, try infusing ice-cold water with sliced fruits so that you get a touch of sweetness with every sip.
Make water more accessible
The easier water is to drink, the more you’ll drink it! One easy way to make your water more accessible is to keep a bottle by your bed every night. In the morning, you can drink it (even before your coffee!) to get started on the day’s hydration and get out of bed feeling replenished and ready to go.
Whether you’re relaxing at home or participating in a fast-paced workout class, water helps fuel your body for whatever the day may bring! Enjoy the benefits of H2O by filling up on your way to WaterSide and all day long.
