Thanksgiving is almost here! As your go-to CrossFit Orlando and Lake Mary destination, we here at CrossFit WaterSide are extremely thankful for our fun, friendly, fitness-loving community and the ways we all bring out the best in each other. This festive season, we’re sharing a few fun ways to combine your holiday celebration and fitness fun. Just read on for a few of our top ideas.
Relax and recharge amidst a busy festive season
From holiday grocery errands, to travel, to spending quality time with family, Thanksgiving and the entire holiday season can get pretty busy! When you're feeling scrambled, a fitness routine that recharges your mind and body can be exactly what you need to feel grounded amidst the holiday hustle and bustle. Be sure to join us in Orlando or Lake Mary for a welcoming environment, flexible class times and the WODs that help you feel your best, no matter what the day may bring.
Run a virtual Turkey Trot 5k
Kicking off Thanksgiving Day with a Turkey Trot 5k is a fun tradition for many fitness lovers - especially here in Central Florida, where gorgeous, crisp fall weather provides the perfect backdrop to your run. Though many fitness events will look a little different this year, we've seen several virtual Turkey Trot signups around the area so that you can enjoy a safe, socially distant holiday workout!
Stretch after a big meal
What's your favorite Thanksgiving food? From classic turkey, to savory sides like mashed potatoes and mac and cheese, to decadent desserts like good-old-fashioned pumpkin pie, there is so much to love and enjoy with family by your side. If you find yourself feeling pretty full after your Turkey Day nap, yoga poses like happy baby or cobra are sure to help you feel your best in time for second helpings, Black Friday fun or whatever else you have on your holiday itinerary.
Enjoy protein-packed leftovers
One of the best parts of Thanksgiving is, of course, the leftovers! Even after the feast itself is over, leftover turkey paninis or a warm, wholesome, protein-packed turkey noodle soup will help fuel your next fitness outing - or serve as a delicious, soothing treat after a great workout. You can also use leftover pumpkin filling to make homemade granola bars or energy bites. These are just a few great ways to help your leftovers (and yourself) go even further this festive season.
Say “thanks” to your fitness routine (and all the things that go with it!)
Of course, there's always something to be thankful for - but if you find yourself stumped when it's your turn to answer that age-old question at the Turkey Day table, here are a few big ones that come to mind...
Be sure to share your own favorite festive activities with us, too. We hope you enjoy a very happy, delicious Thanksgiving!
